County Durham weddings bring castles, country houses and a coastline of their own. I film and photograph weddings in Durham, Chester-le-Street, Seaham and Peterlee, at venues such as Beamish Hall and Lumley Castle.

Weddings I have filmed in County Durham
Four County Durham venues are on my list of favourites. Beamish Hall is a historic country house near Stanley. Lumley Castle at Chester-le-Street is a medieval castle dating from the 14th century. South Causey Inn is a relaxed country inn on Beamish Burn Road, where the confetti photograph above was taken. On the coast, Dalton Old Pump House at Seaham brings industrial Victorian character to the day.

Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle together make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the city’s riverbanks and cobbled streets have long drawn photographers. Down on the coast, Seaham’s beaches are known for the sea glass that washes up on them.
Castles and country houses can be dark inside, especially in winter. My cameras cope well with low light, but I still look for a window or a doorway for portraits, and I will tell you when the best natural light falls at your venue. If you are marrying in church, let me know early: some churches have their own rules about filming during the service, and I always follow them.

How I work
My style is documentary. I follow the day as it unfolds rather than staging it, and most couples tell me they hardly noticed I was there.
Vows and speeches are recorded with professional audio, so nothing is lost to a breeze or a quiet voice. Where the weather and the airspace allow, I add drone footage to show your venue from above. County Durham is well within 100 miles of my base in Billingham, so there are no travel fees.

Michael provided outstanding work for our daughters wedding day at Beamish Hall. He was so professional that we didn’t even notice he was in the room, the morning of our daughters big day I was so nervous and he was so calming and suggested we forgot he was in the room.
